Beko, Fiom Cgil Siena worried about the absence of an industrial plan

Regarding the recent declarations on the future of the Siena site of Beko (formerly Whirlpool) by the provincial secretaries of FIM CISL and UILM, the FIOM CGIL of Siena, in the persons of the General Secretary Daniela Miniero and the RSU member of the plant Stefano Borgogni, wishes to clarify what follows.

From the joint press release of the FIOM, FIM, UILM national secretariats issued after the meeting at MIMIT with Minister Urso, the Government’s commitment to paying attention to Beko’s corporate situation and to convening a meeting with the national and territorial secretariats of FIOM emerged, FIM, UILM and UGL with NewCo, but it also appeared clear that no industrial plan was presented at the meeting between Minister Urso himself and the CEO of Beko and that to date the only instrument for protecting production sites and of the employment level remains the Golden Power, the content of which, however, still remains unknown to us.

Well, if analyzing the facts and any possible scenarios now, after the entry of Beko Europe, means being alarmist, when in September the FIM CISL Siena Secretary Cesarano announced to the press the closure of the Siena site within two months what era?

If the FIM and the UILM invite the FIOM to keep a lower profile, the FIOM calls them to raise the level of the discussion and not to resort to futile and useless low-level exploitations which are of no use to anyone and certainly not to the dispute and to the workers involved, who deserve respect and concrete, close and constant defense.

If the other unions are satisfied with the sachet of auspicious seeds that the new company delivered to all the employees of Viale Toselli a month ago, we at FIOM CGIL need facts and true answers, and to date there is only concrete evidence layoffs that Beko’s 299 employees are continuing to make and the lack of an industrial plan, together with a continuous stalling by the Group.
