FLORENCE – Pedala Firenze rewards you, bonus for those who cycle
Pedala Firenze rewards you, Florence launches the first incentives to promote cycling for city travel in exchange for a monthly contribution and also bonuses for the most virtuous citizens, through the Pin Bike kit and with a dedicated app.
You will be able to apply from May 13th, explains the Municipality of Florencewhile the project will start from next June 3rd, World Bicycle Day, until June 2nd 2025.
The initiative, financed with one million and 200 thousand euros, is one of the pilot projects developed with citizens as part of the project ‘Florence for the climate‘ and was proposed by the councilor for the environment and ecological transition within the Program Agreement for the adoption of measures to improve air quality stipulated between the Region and the Ministry and approved by the Municipality of Florence.
The project was presented by the councilors for the environment and education together with the presidents of the neighborhoods and representatives of Pin Bike, Legambiente, Lama for Florence for the climate, Florence cycle path and Bycs who expressed appreciation for the launch of the initiative.
A bicycle-related project launched by Florence in which the Tour de France 2024
Reserved for all citizens over 18 resident or domiciled in Florence who study or work in Florence. Residents or domiciled in Florence who work or study in the municipalities of Bagno a Ripoli, Calenzano, Campi Bisenzio, Lastra a Signa, Scandicci, Sesto Fiorentino, Signa and vice versa.
The project is based on a kit, made by Pin Bike, which is a patented and anti-fraud system for certification, monitoring and gamification of urban routes, and on an app. The kit consists of a Bluetooth hardware device that will certify the actual use of the bicycle, as well as a handlebar smartphone holder and signal lights.
Anyone who wants to participate can book the kit online from May 13th by downloading the Pin Bike app and filling out the participation application. From May 20th you can then collect the kit from the URPs in the neighbourhoods. Once installed, from June 3rd you will just have to pedal. The incentives will be paid out via bank transfer and credited to your current account.
The aim of the project, explains the Municipality of Florence, is to promote the use of the bicycle for all systematic journeys, not only those from home to work but also from home to school/university, and this is why for these routes the incentive will be higher, up to 0.2€/km. Up to two home/school and home/work routes can be set to meet the needs of those who have multiple study or work locations. The use of bicycles will also be promoted on other journeys with general destinations (provided they are carried out by the citizens of Florence within their own municipality from Monday to Friday), thus reducing the use of motor vehicles. It will be possible to use both ordinary and pedal-assisted bicycles. Precisely for the latter, e-Bike and Cargo-Bike, the purchase will be incentivized by the Municipality from June.
The maximum amount that can be accrued will be 2 euros per day and 30 euros per month.
Every month prizes of up to 100 euros will be available for the 200 users who have accumulated the most points in the App with virtuous actions (km cycled, participation in events and questionnaires, etc.). Each participant, throughout the project, will be able to receive additional monthly prizes up to a maximum of 200 euros.
