Viterbo – “I expect justice to be done and the truth to be established.” Councilor Marco Bruzziches after hearing the news that the investigating judge Rita Cialoni rejected the request for immediate judgment for the mayor Chiara Frontini and her husband Fabio Cavini advanced by the prosecutors. When Frontini made the announcement, Bruzziches was also sitting among the benches of Palazzo dei Priori.

“How did I take it? I listened to Frontini – replies Bruzziches – after which I called my lawyer. That’s all. Then I saw kisses, hugs and handshakes from the majority councillors. As far as I’m concerned, I had some exchanges with some minority councilors who asked me for information.”

Prosecutors Massimiliano Siddi and Chiara Capezzuto had requested immediate judgment for the mayor Chiara Frontini and her husband Fabio Cavini on charges of threatening a political body, article 338 of the penal code. Request rejected by the investigating judge as announced in the city council by Frontini herself.

An investigation, that of the prosecutors, started from a complaint presented by Bruzziches in December. All this after a dinner at the councilor’s home, on 26 September last year, during which Cavini allegedly said: “If I want to hurt, I understand who in your family status is weaker and then I go to hit that person”. And added: “Unfortunately I am his black soul and that is why I am very hated, because sometimes I have to do very bad things.”

For Roberto Massatani, Chiara Frontini’s lawyer, “the mayor declared herself completely innocent and completely uninvolved”. For Giovanni Labate, Fabio Cavini’s lawyer, “the hypothesis of a crime does not exist”.

Viterbo – Councilor Marco Bruzziches

What do you think of the investigating judge’s decision?
“Before expressing an opinion I would like to see the papers and wait until my lawyer is also informed of the decision taken by the investigating judge, as the mayor’s lawyers were. Otherwise I would have to comment on a statement made by Chiara Frontini.”

So how do you comment on the mayor’s statement?
“I can tell you that it doesn’t change a thing. The judges will then decide.”

Did you expect the investigating judge’s decision?
“I learned about the investigating judge’s decision, as well as the request for immediate judgment made by the prosecutors, from the press. So, let’s make the judiciary work. And in this perspective I only expect justice to be done and the truth to be established.”

Did any of the city councilors comment with you on the news given by the mayor?
“I saw kisses, hugs and handshakes from the majority councillors. Then, as far as I’m concerned, I had some exchanges with some minority councilors who asked me for information.”
