A black and white photo story about the Foro Annonario

There will be 95 black and white photos that will bring back to the memory of the people of Cesena, and of all those who frequented these spaces, the old covered market, with particular reference to the recent period which extends from the early 2000s to the start of the construction works retraining. The exhibition “The old market” curated by the photographer Paolo Partisani, set up in the spaces on the ground floor of the Foro Annonario, will be inaugurated today at 10.30am. Partisani will present the series of shots that immortalize characters, commercial activities, and memories that belong to his youth and to all the people from Cesena who frequented these spaces on a daily basis, whose history began in 1859 with the complete demolition of the ancient treasury and Davide Angeli’s project , who conceived it as a large courtyard surrounded by a Doric portico under which the shops were located along the perimeter.

“In view of the start of the redevelopment works – comments Paolo Partisani – I have started a photographic project which I am exhibiting today for the first time thanks to the collaboration of the Municipality of Cesena and all the entities that make this project possible. The 95 shots make up a photo story that travels on the tracks of memory describing everyday life in the old covered market, from the early 2000s until it closed in 2012. I have frequented it since I was a child: I am linked to this city space by a sentimental bond that I care about in a particular way for all these reasons I wanted to tell the life of this place, the stories of those who frequented it, the activities that animated it”. The exhibition can be visited until Saturday 25 May during the opening hours of the Foro Annonario.
