The Tuscan Airport System reached a new record in April 2024, with over 810,000 passengers in total passing through the airports of Florence and Pisa, marking an increase of 12.0% compared to the same month of the previous year. This result is mainly due to the 10.2% increase in total passenger flight movements, which offset the slight decrease (-0.4%) in load factorwhich stood at 82.9%.

Overall, approximately 2.3 million passengers were registered in the first four months of the year, showing an increase of 13.2% compared to the same period in 2023.

Passenger traffic at the airport Amerigo Vespucci of Florence continues its growth trend, with a new monthly record. In April, almost 319,000 passengers used the Florence airport, marking the best April ever with an increase of 19.5% compared to the previous year. Increases were recorded in both flight movements (+7.6% compared to 2023) and load factor (+0.3 percentage points, equal to 79.2%). In April, scheduled domestic traffic grew by 54.9%, while international traffic increased by 15.5% compared to the same month in 2023. The five most popular destinations from Florence airport in April 2024 were Paris, Amsterdam, London, Barcelona and Munich.

Overall, with records achieved in every single month, Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci airport totaled 944,000 passengers in the first four months of 2024, with growth of 26.5% compared to the previous year.

Even the airport Galileo Galilei of Pisa recorded a record-breaking April, with 492,000 passengers transiting, corresponding to an increase of 7.6% compared to the same month of 2023. The 12.9% growth in passenger flight movements more than offset the slight decline (-0 .5%) of the load factor, which stood at 85.5%. International scheduled passenger traffic showed solid growth of 13.5%, largely offsetting the 8.8% decline recorded by the domestic component. The most popular destinations for passengers were London, Tirana, Catania, Paris and Palermo.

In the first four months of 2024, almost 1.4 million passengers passed through Pisa airport, with a growth of 5.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
