We receive news every day about the current Italian economic situation. The effects of the global economic crisis were also felt in our country which was already severely affected in various sectors. Now a ranking tells us something more about the most expensive cities on the peninsula.

Most expensive cities in Italy, first in the ranking

To speak clearly about the inflation situation in our country It’s Istat. By publishing territorial data that are not at all comforting about the economic situation and the relative cost of living of our beautiful peninsula.

Helping him is the National Consumers Union, thanks to which it was possible to draw up a ranking of the 10 most expensive cities in Italy. Under the magnifying glass, municipalities with more than 150,000 inhabitants, therefore also the regional capital. And if many thought they would find Milan and its expensive rents, they were greatly mistaken.

The first in the ranking is a surprise (but not too much), Rimini. The data speaks clearly: inflation at 2.5% in the city, followed only by Brindisi. In practice, if we wanted to speak in practical terms, this would entail an additional expense of 680 euros per family. Truly incredible figures.

And the rest of Italy? In second place we find Naples, which is experiencing a price increase of 2.5% which translates into an extra 550 euros per family. Continued Parma with 1.9% and an additional expense of 516 euros per family.

The situation in the rest of Italy

No better for the rest of the peninsula, this must be said. In the north too Bologna he fares no better. an increase of 1.8% and a cost of 500 euros, followed by Venice with +1.8%, translated into 474 euros. Unexpectedly we move to the south where even Benevento appears in the ranking with 2.2%, which means 470 euros of additional family spending.

Then there is Pordenone which stands at +1.9% and 464 euros of spending, and again Padua with +1.8%, which means a good 463 euros). Finally, let’s not forget Trieste with a nice +1.8%. For citizens here, 440 euros of additional spending per family.

It must be said, however, that according to Istat the situation is not the same for the whole of Italy. There are also cities that are experiencing the opposite situation, a real phenomenon of deflation. Among these places we find Imperia among the first in the ranking. Here there is a -0.3% with a family saving of around 67 euros per family per year. Not much, but it’s already something.

Then there is Pescara with a nice -0.1%: it therefore means that families can cut around 22 euros per family. And again here is Campobasso, also with -0.1% and 21 euros less per year per family.

If we had to instead think by region the situation is this: Veneto is among the most expensive, incredibly followed by Campania, and then Friuli. On the contrary, Molise and Valle d’Aosta did very well, which recorded practically no inflation.
