«For us it is an intense and important moment»

Welcomed by Monsignor Alessandro Saracorector of the Cathedral Basilica closed for restoration work, and by Don Bernardino MongelluzziRector of the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Capocolonna, all the players, staff, employees and managers of FC Crotone arrived, as usual, to pay homage to the patroness of Crotone at the beginning of the Marian month. And the emotion, composure and happiness was truly palpable.

Already in the churchyard of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, which this year (and probably also next) welcomes the liturgies and Marian celebrations which are always heartfelt in the city, there was great emotional participation. Monsignor Saraco also welcomed everyone before praying together, taking the possible arrival of other faithful of other cults as a great opportunityalso as a seal of a spiritual and civil bond of the Madonna di Capocolonna to the entire community that the athletes represent with their shirts.

Then Niccolo Zanellato he read the footballer’s prayer before everyone went to the ritual kiss of Mary’s painting and the equally ritual photo with the athletes and the staff, attentive and transported also by the particularities of the church which was built in 1554 on the remains of a sacred building two centuries older and with the thousand stories not only purely ecclesiastical which were then also consecrated from the solemn rite of 1777 with which it was consecrated.

«For us it is always an intense and important moment – declared the president Gianni Vrenna also on behalf of Mister Zauliof the dg Raffaele Vrennaof the sports director From Bari, of the manager Marine and of all the other corporate members – and this is always evident both in those who have already experienced this moment and in the new ones”. Then the president was keen to underline how Monsignor Saraco himself recalled in church that «sport has always been a vehicle of peace, and in this particular year, we can only offer a first prayer why may all wars be brought to an end as soon as possible, starting with those in Ukraine and the Holy Land».
