An opportunity to experience these next three days in peace, perhaps even taking part in some events in our area. So here is our usual selection of events of what to do at the weekend!

What to do in Como at the weekend

Olgiate Comasco – Sunday 5 May the Bmx Ciclistica Olgiatese, chaired by Alessandro Croce will participate in the Olgiate Festival Bike event, scheduled from 9am to 6pm at the “Mario Briccola” sports center in via don Sterlocchi. An initiative organized in collaboration with the Paolo Fagetti Onlus Foundation, as part of the YouthBank project promoted by the Provincial Foundation of the Comasca Community, with the patronage of the Municipality of Olgiate Comasco.

Olgiate Comasco – Sunday 5th May “Ad Eyes Open”, as part of a project financed by the Provincial Foundation of the Comasca Community, will be staged at 5pm at Medioevo. Free admission. Show by the Gruppo Popolare Theatre. “The objective is to raise awareness among the public, aged 14 and over, of the issue of child abuse, of the importance of reporting, speaking and sharing – explains Giuliana Casartelli, head of the Library, Culture and Youth Policies Area – Pushing kids and adults to keep their eyes wide open to the signs that victims of such violence often show non-verbally.”

Montano Lucino – Walking group to experience the town: Today, Saturday 4 May, at 2.30 pm meeting in Piazza Gilardoni for a new outing. Anyone can participate, with sneakers and sportswear.

Montano Lucino – show “The great show” presented by the guys from “Musical Weekend” by Francesca Cipriani. The event will be held on Sunday 5 May at the Smeraldo theater in Lucino which will allow participants to enjoy the musical: a medley of soundtracks from famous children’s films. The show will have two appointments: at 11.30am and 4.30pm. The event is sponsored by the Municipality.

San Fermo della Battaglia – inauguration of the Grazia Meani exhibition. Today, Saturday 4 May, at 5pm in Villa Imbonati, Meani invites you to the opening of the exhibition dedicated to her works created with the techniques learned during Flavia Colacevich’s painting course. Free admission.

San Fermo della Battaglia – at 8.30 pm, in the library in via Somaini, “The night of the story”. Space for children aged 4 to 10, students from the “Giovio” high school will offer animated readings. At the end, a herbal tea will be offered.

Colverde – Saturday 4 May, from 7.30 pm, the Drezzo oratory will be animated by the Alpini with the classic “Pizzoccherata” on the occasion of Mother’s Day. Not just pizzoccheri, but a very respectable dinner which includes, in addition to the aperitif, roast beef with potatoes, dessert and coffee. There will be no shortage of water and wine. The proceeds from the initiative will then be used to finance social activities.

Valmorea – eleventh edition of the “Professor’s Campestre”. Tomorrow, Sunday 5 May, the annual race organized by the Pro Loco will combine sport and solidarity. Registration from 8am and departure from the schools at 9.30am. Possibility to have lunch upon reservation. The proceeds will be donated to “Casa di Gabri” to purchase a portable generator.

Faloppio – there are already around forty exhibitors who have joined the 2024 edition of “Agricolario”, which will take place at the sports center in via Falcone, in Gaggino, tomorrow, Sunday 5 May. Open event, from 9am to 6.30pm with sales stalls for hobbyists, farmers and artisans, but also many attractions available to adults and children, including performances by skilled falconers.

What to do in Cantù at the weekend

Cantù – Children’s Day is back. The event that will bring together the nurseries of the city and neighboring towns is scheduled for Saturday 4 May. It will take place at Martiri delle Foibe park from 3.30pm to 6.30pm. There will be workshops on manipulation, painting, reading, motor courses for boys and girls between 0 and 6 years old and for their families. The afternoon will also be animated by the Fire Brigade, the Cri Cantù committee, the local police, the social cooperative Progetto sociale, Mondovisione and the New Music School. The afternoon will end with the animated theater show Ivan Malabar Show from 5.30pm to 6pm.

Mariano Comense – “Mariano in fiore” also continues over the weekend. In addition to the installations that the horticulturalists have placed in Piazza Roma, there is an event on the calendar for Sunday 5 May. From 6pm there will be space for “Rebel music – Italian author music”, perhaps enjoying an aperitif in company. Until May 12th, the exhibition, curated by Akila Porage, “Marianese painters for Mariano in fiore” also continues, which can be visited in the civic hall on Saturdays from 4pm to 7pm and on Sundays from 10am to 12pm, then from 4pm to 7pm.

Mariano Comense – until Sunday 5 May there will be the possibility to visit Ruggero Agostoni’s exhibition, “Empathic disagreements”, inside “La Bottega”. The exhibition, presented by “Gli Amici della Cultura” and with the patronage of the Municipality of Mariano, can still be visited on Saturday 4 May and tomorrow, Sunday 5 May. Today from 4pm to 7pm and tomorrow, in the morning from 10am to 12.30pm and in the afternoon from 4pm to 7.30pm. Entrance is free.

What to do in Erba at the weekend

Bellagio – scheduled for Sunday 5 May, the walk on Mount San Primo organized by the “Save Mount San Primo” coordination. This is an educational walk with the speleologists of the Lombardy Speleological Federation, to discover the underwater world of Mount San Primo. A double meeting point is planned for the departure: at 8.30 am at the car park at the back of the Canzo station, to organize shared cars, and then arrive at the Colma di Sormano car park at 9 am, the time at which the tour is scheduled to begin walk. The event involves an easy walk lasting around 4 hours and with a difference in altitude of around 300 metres, suitable for adults and children with minimal mountain training. In case of bad weather it will be postponed.

Canzo – Sunday, May 5th, the presentation of the highest Canzo recognition will take place: the San Miro. This year it was awarded in memory of the painter Ietta Buttini Damonte. The day includes solemn mass at 10.30 in the basilica; the aperitif at 11.45 under the porticoes of Piazza Chiesa; Community lunch in the oratory from 12.30pm. In the afternoon, from 2.15pm, entertainment with games and parade for everyone, at 4pm, in the oratory. At 8.30 pm, at the Teatro Sociale, award ceremony and recognition to all the deserving students, to the athletes who have distinguished themselves during the year and to the historical activities of the town.

Ponte Lambro – remember the unification of the Carabinieri and Forestry forces. This is the homage wanted by the Erba – Ponte Lambro section of the National Carabinieri Association led by Gianmario Colzani with the pictorial exhibition of Marco Monaldi, known as the “painter of the Carabinieri”. The inauguration will take place on Saturday 4 May, at 10.30 am, in Villa Guaita: curator is Vittorio Mottola, with the help of art critic Davide Farella. The exhibition will continue until May 8th with free visits possible from 10am to 12pm and from 4pm to 6pm.

Ponte Lambro – “The great Puccinian melodies” is the opera concert that will take place on Saturday 4 May, at 9pm, in the council chamber. The protagonists will be the “Soprano Edda Righetto” choir and the children’s choir. The director is Alessandra Zapparoli. Maestro Maurizio Fasoli will be on the piano, while the soloists will be the sopranos Cinzia Bavelloni, Silvia Conti, Claudia Corti and Ivana Montani.

Ponte Lambro – last appointment and final party of the project featuring “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. This is the “A Snow White per Ponte” initiative proposed by the Tic Tac association, in collaboration with the municipal administration, and which traces the fairy tale which has always been a wonderful source of inspiration. “A night at Villa Guaita” will be held on Saturday 4 May, at 8.30pm. Until midnight the participants (from the third to the fifth primary school) will be able to spend hours in the company of fun with books, competitions and games with the writers Annalisa Strada and Carla Giovannone. On Sunday 5 May, from 3pm to 6pm, an open-air show with music, games, entertainment and workshops inspired by the fairy tale will be staged in the park of Villa Guaita.
