From Monday the metro ticket for Line 1, that of the Municipality, will increase the ticket for the single journey valid for the entire route goes from 1.30 euros to 1.50. An increase that has been announced for some time, but which will materialize on Monday.
It is the fourth transport price increase in 7 years. Accompanied, it should be underlined, by a fairly significant improvement in service: today on average every 7-8 minutes there is a rush and this is thanks to the entry into service of 11 new trains which fill the entire platform and can transport up to 1200 passengers.
The new tickets are therefore 20 cents more expensive, while the old ones at 1.30 will remain valid for travel on funiculars, buses, trams and trolleybuses whose ticket will not increase. «It’s an alignment – he says Francesco Favo general manager of Anm – asked by Common to the Region by virtue of the fact that other rail transport starting from line 1 of the Fs metro costs precisely 1.50 euros. The rates are decided by the Region.”
Favo concludes his reasoning as follows: «Transport is essential in a tourist city like Naples, the service must be adapted as we are doing and more funds are needed to keep up with the growth of Naples. Having said this, we then need to ask ourselves and understand how much money arrives in other public companies in the cities compared to ANM, a debate should be opened on this.”
It should be remembered in this regard that Line 6 will also come into operation by July, therefore a further cost for ANM, in this regard Common wrote to Region and to the President Vincenzo De Luca to obtain an adjustment of resources to be able to make this additional service work as best as possible. At the moment no response has yet been received from the organisation Saint Lucia.
