With the last matches on Thursday afternoon and the awards ceremony held at the Bruno Neri stadium in Faenza we are the Derby student tournament in Faenza concluded, an initiative organized by the sports department of the Municipality of Faenza together with the representatives of the students of some of the high schools of Romagna Faentina to bring girls and boys to experience moments of healthy competition with a view to collaboration and solidarity as an opportunity for meeting and friendship, through sport.

The schools have individually approved the proposals through their collegiate bodies as planning for the training and teaching program while the municipal administration has assumed the role of coordination, making sports facilities and personnel available to guarantee the safety and success of the event .

Four local schools joined the initiative: Istituto Alberghiero Pellegrino Artusi of Riolo Terme and those in Faenza of the Iti Bucci, the Liceo Torricelli-Ballardini and the Oriani. The students, in the sports facilities of the Pala Bubani and the Bruno Neri stadium, competed in the disciplines of basketball, volleyball and football with men’s and women’s teams.

At the end of the tournament the results are winners for basketball were the women’s team from the Oriani institute and for the men’s team the ‘colleagues’ from the Torricelli-Ballardini high school. For the volleyball the tournament was won by the women’s team of the Torricelli-Ballardini high school and the boys of Oriani. In the football, the best female team was that of the Oriani institute and the best male team were the players of Iti Bucci.

The Far Play Award was awarded to Iti Bucci student, Lorenzo Piancastelli while the The prize for the best organized cheering went to the students of the Riolo Terme hotel school. Finally, prize for best athlete went to Cecilia Giorgi while for men Lucas Geminiani.

“The ‘Faenza Derby’ thus ended, with days well attended by students from high schools in the area – conclude the organizers -. A big thank you for the success of the event, which will certainly be repeated in the future, must go to the Faenza section of Avis and to the volunteers of Civil Protection, Public Assistance, the CSI and the provincial section of the Basketball Federation who provided staff available for the success of the event carried out with a view to the healthy principles of sporting competition in which the girls and boys have demonstrated that they experience these competitive events in the name of fun and collaboration”.
