Twenty-five extracurricular internship courses lasting six months each with compensation of 450 euros per month. The ‘Citizenship Work’ was born in Terni, an initiative aimed at the weakest sections of the population. The proposed resolution which formally starts the experimentation project has been approved by the municipal council.
‘Citizenship work’ The objective of the municipal administration is to «support the employability of people who need support for social and/or socio-work inclusion, with the aim of promoting and strengthening the skills of the recipients, encouraging their emancipation and ‘autonomy”. The initiative, of an experimental nature, is in fact aimed at the weakest sections of the population, therefore also at those who have lost the possibility of accessing the benefit of the Citizenship Income. The project essentially involves the implementation of extracurricular internships through the Sal (System of work support services). The Municipality has allocated a total of 135 thousand euros for the initiative.
The internships Through extracurricular internship projects, beneficiaries will be able to
acquire skills “in areas of strong interest and development possibilities such as: social innovation, experimentation with new technologies, urban regeneration, care of the territory, with personalized paths deemed effective and appropriate to the skills and abilities of the beneficiaries”, we read in the resolution. An allowance of 450 euros per month (gross amount) is provided for each intern for 20 hours per week. The internships – the experimental project includes 25 – will last six months each with the possibility of extension for another six months. The project makes use of the collaboration of third sector companies which will be the hosts of the internships.
