PESARO – Tari bills on the rise, the ire of Confcommercio Marche Nord. All this while Fano announces that it has decreased them by 2.57%.

Confcommercio director Amerigo Varotti blurts out: «We are assisting with great concern to what the Assembly of members of Marche Multiservizi (i.e. the Municipalities of the Province that hold the majority) and the Assembly of the ATA (Territorial Area Assembly, i.e. the 50 Municipalities and the Province), have resolved in recent days. And obviously we do not agree at all with what was decided and which conflicts with the interests of businesses and families. They seem to be subjects detached from the economic and social context of our Province.

Let’s go in order: the Assembly of Marche Multiservizi (i.e. the Municipalities) approves the 2023 budget which provides for a profit of 12.3 million euros. The Municipality of Montelabbate proposes to allocate just over 4 million euros to families and businesses to reduce bill costs. The proposal was rejected by all the other members who thus decided to transfer the profits, in shares, to the Municipalities (and other members)”.

Varotti comes down hard: «A few days later the ATA (i.e. always the same Municipalities) orders the increase in the TARI (waste tax) of 5.6% on the basis of the costs that Marche Multiservizi sustains to provide the services it carries out for the Common. So on the one hand they do not renounce the sharing of profits, on the other hand, tariffs continue to increase. This is truly unacceptable behavior.

In such difficult times for the economy, for families and businesses struggling with the rising costs of energy, fuel, mortgages and food products, we should give up making substantial profits by helping the area, families and businesses to overcome the serious economic crisis (also worsened due to the transition to the free market for gas and electricity)”.

The president of the Restaurateurs Association Mario Di Remigio he comments: «For years we have been asking for a reduction in tariffs, especially water and waste, which are absolutely incompatible with the correct management of our activities. Not only do they not reduce them but they continue to make profits and increase tariffs. Stuff from another world.”
