After the success of the first edition, the announcement was published Raffaele Baldassarre Award, a competition for the awarding of scholarships for internship activities at the European Parliament for graduates from Puglia and Calabria. The Award established in memory ofHon. Raffaele Baldassarre, aims to facilitate the training of young graduates in tourism and economic sciences through the acquisition of knowledge and skills to facilitate professional development and employment within the European labor market. It aims to increase knowledge of the European institutions, of the disciplines that regulate their nature, structure, operating rules and purposes, as well as to study the measures to support the tourism sector in the European context and the implications for the respective national systems .

The “Raffaele Baldassarre” Association, the promoter and coordinator of the Award, in collaboration with various bureaux of the European Parliament, has managed to make scholarships available for graduates in Tourism Manager of the Department of Economic Sciences from the University of Salento and in Tourist Sciences from the Department of Business and Legal Sciences of the University of Calabria. The Association established in memory of “Raffaele Baldassarre” labor law expert and MEP of the VII legislature V. President of the Legal Commission and member of the Social Affairs Commission of the European Parliament, who died prematurely, is in line with the ideals and values ​​that have characterized its path human and political.

The statutory activities of the association aim to cultivate its memory, stimulating a correct vision of meritocracy and rewarding the virtue, talent and tenacity of those who, with commitment and perseverance, distinguish themselves in the study and research in the field of European policies, international markets and local development. The Scientific Director of the award and Coordinator of the Association is Professor Peppino De Rose, expert in EU programs, university professor and former political advisor on European affairs to the Honorable Baldassarre: “We wanted to publish the announcement of the Award on May 1st on a symbolic date so that this path of activity is an example capable of raising young people’s awareness of a constant commitment to becoming interpreters of European culture and mobility.
