The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoriaiconic 5-star luxury hotel Sorrentowith breathtaking views of Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples, celebrates 190 years since its foundation, a fascinating story of attention, love, perseverance, work, passion, in which the family is the protagonist Florentine.

Founded in 1834 by Aniello Rispoliwhose daughter he married years later Raffaele Fiorentino, already an established entrepreneur in Sorrento, who took over the entire property with the construction of two new buildings, the Favorita and the Rivale, the structure has been managed by the Fiorentino family for six generations. Grande Dame of Italian hospitality, always current, the hotel has hosted (and still hosts) celebrities and personalities and, although today equipped with every comfort and technology, it proudly maintains its original characteristics and its soul.

It celebrated 190 years with a great Gala in the refined Vittoria room with exceptional guests, including the famous actress and singer Lina Sastri and the young lyricists of the Accademia del San Carlo Theater in Naples.

For the occasion, the executive chef Antonino Montefusco studied a menu that could celebrate the long history of the hotel. In fact, starting from the dishes of an ancient menu of the structure, the chef proposed contemporary reworkings without losing sight of the Neapolitan tradition, accompanying guests on a unique and unforgettable journey among the flavors and smells of the Amalfi coast.

During the evening, each course was accompanied by the intense and exciting performances of some of the most renowned artists on the Italian cultural scene. Starting with the unforgettable performance of the Neapolitan actress and singer Lina Sastri who enchanted the guests with the notes of some of the masterpieces of the Italian musical tradition, then moving on to the pianist and jazz player Dado Moronito the saxophonist Francesco Cafiso and the refined singer Karima. The young lyricists of the Accademia del Teatro San Carlo entertained the guests with a repertoire of excellence until the grand finale on the notes of Libiamo ne’ pleased glasses from La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi.

An unforgettable evening that celebrated a story full of meaning and value, the result of a project perfected over time, year after year, built starting from the needs of the guests and always looking at the latest trends in hospitality, but without ever losing or distorting its own soul, deeply linked to that culture of craftsmanship, tailoring and savoir faire, which has made Italy an icon of beauty and quality in every corner of the world.
