The Banda Sociale Meratese enchanted the audience of Santa Vittoria in Matenano with an unforgettable performance at the Leone Theatre, a jewel of Italian theatrical architecture. The Banda Sociale Meratese performed in the Marche during the social trip organized for members and supporters. The group led by the tireless Pierpaolo Arlati, left Merate on April 25th and returned on April 29th.

The cultural itinerary which included visits to Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Porto San Giorgio and Offida, was embellished with a musical event which was held at the Leone Theater in Santa Vittoria in Matenano, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Under the guidance of the conductor Marcello Corti, the band from Merate gave the spectators an evening of extraordinary and engaging music. The musical program presented an excellent selection of songs, including Luciano Feliciani’s “Variations on the Lamenti theme”, a tribute to the culture of the Marche, Randall Standridge’s “The Wind of Changes”, and a selection from the soundtrack of the musical “ Les Miserables”, which thrilled and involved the audience. Also sitting in the audience was Guido Bertolaso, Councilor for Welfare of the Lombardy Region and until 2010 the Civil Protection Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

“It was a wonderful experience – explains Marcello Corti – and the Banda Sociale Meratese presented a demanding program supporting a truly intense and well performed concert. The formation also presented Variations on the theme Lamenti by Luciano Feliciani, a dear friend and fellow student who composed a piece paying homage to his homeland, the Marche, with three variations built on an ancient popular melody. Performing this composition right in these splendid lands, rich in culture, music and beauty, has a truly great value for me and for the Merate Band”

Marcello Corti, the director of the Banda Sociale Meratese, brings with him a rich experience in the world of music and orchestral direction. Since 2011, Marcello has been working with the Banda Sociale Meratese directing both the senior and junior groups. In addition to his activity with the band, Corti is involved in numerous musical projects, including the Concert Lessons with the Milan Symphony Orchestra and the record production with 19’40” (www.19m40s.com).

The concert of the Banda Sociale Meratese was a true artistic triumph, confirming once again the value and quality of Italian band music.
