Family doctors, double scholarship for three-year training for 750 thousand euros.

The public competition notice for the admission of up to 10 doctors to the 2024/2027 three-year specific training course in General Medicine has been approved.

Ordinary and additional regional scholarships

10 ordinary scholarships and as many additional regional scholarships were financed for a total investment of 750 thousand euros.

Working in the Valley for at least 5 years

After having attended the three-year period, which can be accessed by passing the regional admission competition (the dates will be released in the coming weeks), doctors will acquire the diploma, following a final exam, to carry out their activity within the National Health Service and must practice in Valle d’Aosta for at least five years.

Advantages for the three-year period of studies and internship

In fact, already while attending the course, the trainee doctor who takes on a role for up to 1,000 patients can count on various benefits.

Compensation for disadvantaged and very disadvantaged municipalities

One of which is unique in the Italian panorama: the intern can immediately receive an allowance for the activity in disadvantaged municipalities (up to 2,000 euros per year) and very disadvantaged ones (up to 6,000 euros per year).
Out of 74 municipalities in the Aosta Valley, approximately half fall into these categories.

Furthermore, with the ordinary scholarship of 11,603 euros per year added to the additional regional one of 13,397 euros per yearIn fact, in Valle d’Aosta the salary of an intern in the General Medicine course is equivalent to that of a trainee during the Specialty course.

More advantageous training-work alternation

No less important is the “tailor-made” training structure: the small size of the region allows the creation of personalized paths for the students which make the training/work alternation even more advantageous.

In fact, there is recognition of working hours up to a maximum of two thirds of the hours of practical teaching training, corresponding to a maximum of 2,133 hours (remodulation of the training plan).

All the allowances of a primary care doctor are also provided, including the benefits of the regional supplementary agreements (after obtaining the final qualification of the course), as well as facilitated conditions for the opening of clinics and for living/accommodation solutions thanks to the collaboration with local authorities.
