Rugby Frassinelle confirms itself as regional champion

FRASSINELLE (Rovigo) – And two! For the second consecutive year the Rugby Frassinelle confirms itself as the queen team of the C series of Veneto, Friuli and Trentino Alto Adige by winning on the neutral site of Favaro Veneto against Rugby Jesolo 10 to 6.

The result rewards the great work of Enrico Brizzant and his staff both on a technical level and in terms of involving the kids, with a very young group, which saw the amalgamation of the entire squad.

Well done to Brizzante and the staff for motivating the boys after the defeats at the start of the season up until the positive streak of victories that led Frassinelle to the final against Jesolo. The match saw the Polesans demonstrate their power in the forwards and good effectiveness in the backs.

In the end the result of 10 to 6 for Frassinelle is close to the Galletti Gialloblù, with Frassinelle having shown that they could close the match earlier and with less hassle if there hadn’t been too many errors, even trivial ones, probably due to anxiety and tension. The injuries of Raboni and Basra, effectively replaced, took away some experience references and raised the level of anxiety, however everything went well and considering the bad period for the finals and semi-finals we can be proud of it.

The coach Brilliant He commented on the match like this: “We played with the fear of making mistakes. The fear and tension of playing the final prevented us from playing peacefully and at our best, the rush and anxiety prevented us from carrying out what we prepared in training and which we are capable of doing as demonstrated throughout the championship. However, we were constant in our commitment, never giving up an inch of ground, fighting every second of the match. I had also asked for a very aggressive defense because, from the videos I watched, Jesolo had attackers with great skills. During the week I insisted with Gorzoni and Spolaore that they get on defense very quickly because their direct opponents were really dangerous, especially Gorzoni’s. As usual the scrum package did very well and in fact I indicated the entire front row as Man Of The Match: Bicego, Toso and Garbo; I also add Mattia Gorzoni to these. The front line was fantastic, I didn’t change the props because they had already taken the measure of both the opponents of the first half and those who replaced them later. I was very sorry to lose both Raboni and Basra in five minutes, two of the strong points of the team, but the substitutes were up to the task and this allowed us not to drop in pace and determination, to the point that we scored the beautiful try of the overtaking in the 79th minute with an action that started from touch and continued until Chaffaq’s goal. I also think that if we were not prepared to play beyond eighty minutes they would not have been able to score that try with almost time up with a perfect execution and here I have to thank the work of our Athletic Trainer Franceco Cominato. I’m very proud of the boys!”.

They played: Mancini, Chaffaq, Spollaore, Gorzoni, Benamati, Saltarin, Cobianco, Raboni, Basra, Spada, Dalla Libera, Cenci, Garbo, Toso, Bicego. They entered: Chinaglia, Cervato, Quaglio, Rovere, Giacobbe, Navarri, Bergamini.

The scorers were Saltarin and Chaffaq with a try each, both unconverted.
