for Luino it’s time for the final

Appointment with history for Luino Calciowho after a season as a protagonist in First Category group A is one step away from the Promotion dream.

To turn this dream into reality, coach Alessandro Giallonardo’s rossoblu will have to win tomorrow, Sunday 28 Aprilagainst Badalasco from Bergamo, opponents in the Lombardy Cup final which will be played at the Comunale di Pozzuolo Martesana (Milan) with kick-off at 3.30pm.

A final that worth a season; and a season that is already a success even before the team takes to the field to compete for the passage to the higher category. They say it the numbers: 54 points in the championship, of which 31 were achieved in the second round with 11 victories (including the one on the Morazzone pitch, which then finished in first place and which lost within friendly walls only against the Luino team), with 4 draws and 2 defeats always in the second half of the championship.

Playoff numbers, which in the end however were not sufficient for access to the post season, compared to the almost perfect season of Olimpia Tresiana, who with its 67 points pushed Luino above the 9 point threshold gap, the maximum established by the regulation to allow the fifth-placed team (Luino) to play in the first round of the playoffs against the second-placed team (Olimpia).

However, the rossoblu, thanks to another path, the one completed in the Lombardy Cup, have a second chance to land in Promotion; chance that passes through Sunday’s final, which will give the cup-winning team absolute priority in the repechage rankings, linked to the teams that every year – due to mergers and acquisitions of sporting titles – give up on registering for the championship.

«We are anxiously awaiting this match which is already a historic milestone for the club, and it is the emblem of the journey undertaken so far – comments coach Alessandro Giallonardo – I arrived in Luino with a team that was last in the standings. We saved ourselves last season, and this year we grew and did extraordinary things, in the league and in the cup.”

Badalasco are a tough opponent, Mr. Giallonardo says: «Solid team, physically strong, tactically prepared». The message that the coach addressed to his players has not changed compared to the one that preceded the semi-final return match against Accademia Isola Bergamasca, played at the Annibale Frossi in Luino in front of hundreds of spectators: «Let’s live the moment with serenity , without anxiety and preparing ourselves to give 100%».
