The Squares of Flavors
The new edition of the “Le Piazze dei Sapori” event is scheduled from 9 to 12 May in Verona. More than 60 companies of the Italian gastronomic tradition, carefully selected from hundreds of companies in the sector, will offer the best of their productions, accompanied by collateral events open to the public. For this edition, Spain will be a special guest and will help you discover its culinary culture through some of its characteristic dishes.

EVENTS
Verona Natural Wine
For the first time all together, producers of natural wines from Verona. Two days, a glass, a park and a villa. And above all lots of tastings. The first edition of Verona Natural Wine, the fair-market of Veronese natural wines, will be held at Villa Buri on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May.
Ancient Bussolengo
On Sunday 12 May, an absolute novelty will debut in Bussolengo which for the first time will have its own collectibles, second-hand, modern and antiques market. It is called “Bussolengo Antica” and will be held, for a first phase, on the second Saturday of the month during the months of May, June, September and October. The market will be located in the area of via Mazzini and Piazza 26 Aprile.
Re-enactment of the Torricelle climb
The appointment with the “Re-enactment of the Salita delle Torricelle” returns on Sunday 12 May, organized by the Historic Cars Club of Verona. This year the participating historic cars will set off from the stupendous setting of Piazza S. Zeno, where they will be lined up between 8.30 and 10. After the start the cars will reach the start of the climb and will then test themselves twice on a test of regularity of 1.5 km.
The Verona of the Winemakers
On Saturday 11 May from 10am to 7pm, Verona will host “La Verona dei Vignaioli” for the first time. Promoted by the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers (FIVI), this event aims to introduce sector operators and enthusiasts to the many local wine-growing realities of FIVI members. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore and taste the region’s wine treasures.
Cucine a Motore World Food and Music Festival
Cucine a Motore World Food and Music Festival arrives in Piazza dell’Arsenale in Verona, a culinary, musical and entertainment event that celebrates the internationality, diversity and enchanting harmony of food and wine and cultural flavors from all over the world. From 10 to 12 May, the Arsenale Gardens, located in front of the majestic Castelvecchio, will be transformed into a culinary and musical paradise, welcoming food and music enthusiasts from all over the world.
Festival in Cellore d’Illasi
Three days of music, events for all ages and obviously many kiosks to quench your thirst and delight you. An event not to be missed with the Festival in Cellore d’Illasi from 10th to 12th May.
Asparagus Festival
The Municipality of Cavaion Veronese, with the ProLoco San Michele, renews the appointment with the traditional Asparagus Festival, now in its 54th edition. Like last year, the party, which will be held from 10 to 19 May, will take place in the Arena and Corte Torcolo area, a beautiful historical setting that will host many events.
Attics in the Square
The long-awaited second-hand markets of “Soffitte in Piazza” 2024 edition are returning again this year. The ideal place to sell, buy or barter used objects of modest value such as toys, trinkets, books, magazines, comics, records, postcards, clothes vintage, bags, old tools and much more. The next appointment is in Piazza Isolo on Saturday 11 May.
Basson festival
Over a week of events for the 70th edition of the Sagra del Basson, scheduled from 30 April to 12 May at the “La Girandola” playground, in via Bassone 36 in the Basson area, behind the neighborhood church. Opening of the food stands from 7.30 pm followed by a musical evening from 8.30 pm.
MUSIC
Il Volo in Arena
After the success of the two-night event on Canale 5 last May which saw them triumph in the most famous amphitheater in Italy with many great guests from the Italian and international scene, Il Volo multiplies the appointments of “Tutti per uno” and returns live to Italy on the dates of 9, 11, 12 and 13 May 2024 at the Verona Arena.
Jazzset Orchestra
On Friday 10 May at 8.30 pm, the well-known Jazzset Orchestra, a historic Veronese Big Band born in 1989 and raised in Verona, will be in concert at the Dogana Veneta in Lazise, with several hundred concerts in the various Italian regions and also in Europe.
Princess
Princesa concert at the Santa Teresa Theater in Verona. A theatrical-musical show that will be held on May 11, 2024 at 9.15 pm. Princesa are a band from Teramo that for several years have been carrying out a personal homage to the poetics of the Genoese singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André.
THEATER
The priest of the chestnut workers
On Sunday 12 May at the Prun quarries you can attend the theatrical show entitled “The priest of the castagnari”, written and performed by the well-known actor and writer Alessandro Anderloni. The work traces the life of the Veronese priest Don Alberto Benedetti (1911-1997), a controversial figure in his time and discussed for his non-conformist positions, leaving some admired and others perplexed.
Festival “There is no difference”
The tenth edition of the “Non c’è differenti” festival will take place in Verona from 10 to 19 May. The project, conceived by Isabella Caserta and organized by the Scientific Theater – Teatro Laboratorio of Verona, aims to be a way of bringing the public closer to the other with shows, readings, meetings, screenings, exhibitions.

Among the new releases in cinemas in Verona we highlight:
- The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – «The film directed by Wes Ball is a new chapter in the famous saga of The Planet of the Apes and stars Owen Teague as the protagonist. This new film is set several generations after Caesar’s reign, where apes are the dominant species living in harmony and humans are forced to live in the shadows.” Director: Wes Ball.
- Mothers’ Instinct – «The film directed by Benoît Delhomme is the story of two best friends, Alice (Jessica Chastain) and Celine (Anne Hathaway). We are in the sixties and the two women live in the same neighborhood where everything flows peacefully and harmonious. They have enviable lives, successful husbands, children of the same age who play together, occasions to celebrate together. The ideal picture of a dream life for those years. Everything was perfect until the day a tragedy struck them.” Director: Benoît Delhomme.
EXHIBITIONS
My paradise. Dante prophet of hope
At Castel San Pietro the multimedia exhibition “My Paradise. Dante prophet of hope” from 19 April to 16 June 2024. There are 33 stages, punctuated by as many illustrations to accompany insights and reflections. The exhibition is spread over a surface area of 500m2, along an itinerary that highlights some findings that emerged in the archaeological excavations that involved the building. The exhibition itinerary ideally accompanies the visitor in the nine skies of Paradise through a succession of images, videos and sounds which will end with a scenic game to reach the Empyrean.
Around happiness
Works that speak of an infinite love for light, colors and nature, an artistic tribute to happiness. Athos Faccincani, an artist of rare sensitivity, capable of giving life to the darkness with brushstrokes of intense poetry, will be exhibiting from Saturday 2 March to 9 June 2024, in the Historic Building of Peschiera del Garda.
Echo of a scream
The photographic exhibition “Eco di un grido”, set up in the Birolli room, in via Mecello 17, will be open to visitors from 5 to 19 May 2024. On display are the works of international war reporters Francesca Tosarelli, Juan Carlos and Federico Vespignani in dialogue with 24 winning shots of the “Looks and Moments of Peace” competition. These are productions sent by amateur and professional photographers.
Terracotta images
Offerings in sanctuaries, requests for grace from the gods or homage for a grace already received. The male and female heads or half heads made of terracotta and protagonists of the temporary exhibition set up from 8 November 2023 until 6 October 2024 at the Archaeological Museum at the Roman Theater were intended for this purpose. A new exhibition itinerary, curated by Margherita Bolla. A rich collection of 380 terracotta figures, preserved in the Museum archives and not usually exhibited to the public. Images coming from the Verona area and belonging to private collections which then merged into the Civic Museums of Verona.
Virtual Identities / Fragile Lands
E.ART.H. Foundation enriches the exhibition program for spring-summer 2024 with two new exhibitions in Verona: “Virtual Identities” by Piergiorgio Del Ben and “Terre Fragili” by Pierluigi Slis, open to the public free of charge until 31 August 2024. The exhibitions, curated by Alessandra Santin and Giulia Adami, with the collaboration of Michele Filippi, present the works of the two artists through unpublished projects specifically designed for the spaces of the Ex Specialized Refrigerating Station.
CONTEMPORARY NON-STOP. The breath of nature | AIR
“CONTEMPORARY NON-STOP. The breath of nature | ARIA”, curated by Patrizia Nuzzo (curator responsible for the modern and contemporary art collection), is open to the public from 7 October 2023 to 6 October 2024 to offer a new experiential journey focused on the element of air, understood in the dual value of generative or destructive principle. A journey which, from the single fragment of the work of Anaximenes of Miletus (586 BC – 528 BC), finds its development to become an exhibition on the occasion of the third appointment dedicated to the contemporary of the GAM of Verona.
Giulio Paolini Et in Arcadia Ego
The unpublished project by Giulio Paolini entitled “Giulio Paolini Et in Arcadia Ego”, created at the Gallery of Modern Art, curated by Patrizia Nuzzo and Stefano Raimondi, is a project that brings together the Civic Museums – Gallery of Modern Art Achille Forti and ArtVerona, for a format specifically designed for the GAM spaces, which from 15 October 2023 to 25 August 2024, at Palazzo della Ragione, presents to the public the key elements of the artist’s research, in which unpublished works, conceived to the Veronese museum, dialogue with works from the public collection, such as “The Apparition of the Virgin” by Paolini himself, present in the civic collection since 2002.
I come from where I am
From 9 March to 31 May 2024 a new exhibition by Fabio Sandri at the Artericambi gallery entitled “I come from where I find myself”, curated by Luca Panaro. For the occasion, the artist proposes the installation of recent works, four sculpture-devices designed specifically for the place and capable of relating to the participating public.
Female
The personal exhibition of the Veronese painter Giorgio G. Adami, at the Osteria al Carro Armato (vicolo Gatto 2/a, Verona) from 10 May to 2 June 2024, entitled “Feminine”, is dedicated to the female universe. There are about fifteen works on display, belonging to the “white cycle”, enamels on wood created since 2005 in which the figures emerge from pure wood. A family, the Witch, The scarf, Female figure (Marilyn), Eve’s tree, The girl with the beretare some of the titles of the works, which tell the homage to women in different social and cultural declinations.
