FLORENCE – An earthquake swarm is underway in Mugello, with its epicenter just north of the town of Barberino. The most intense tremors occurred starting at 00.39 (magnitude 3.0 with epicenter in Vernio). All the others instead hit Mugello: at 00.39 (3.1); 00.58 (3.1) and 01.56 (3.0).
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology reports this.
The hypocenter was located at a depth ranging from 8 to 10 kilometers.
Mild tremors have already been recorded in the area for a few hours: the seismic swarm began at 2.12 pm yesterday. At 4.30 in total almost 100 had been registered (96 to be precise).
The four strongest tremors were distinctly felt between Barberino del Mugello and Val di Bisenzio. No damage to people or things has been reported, nor have any critical issues been reported at this time.

The seismic swarm continued during the night and in the early hours of the morning, centered on the same epicenter, just north of Barberino del Mugello. Since 4.30 tonight, another 43 light tremors have occurred, only 4 of which were recorded by the seismographs of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology with a magnitude above 2.0
