Palermo and Bolzano represent two cities located geographically at opposite ends and with wonderfully different cultures. And it is precisely in Alto Adige that Palermo’s fate in the playoffs will be known, with the last championship match against Sudtirol. The fans are divided between those who still believe in a miracle and those who believe that it is already time to put a stop to this fluctuating championship which has caused more disappointments than joys.

Missed expectations

The expectations objectively were different. The summer transfer market appeared well conducted with the purchase of experienced players who seemed to be able to guarantee the so-called “long bench”. There was talk of at least one valid couple for each role.

The fans’ relationship with the coach immediately showed signs of deterioration, despite the wonderful years Corini spent in Palermo with the captain’s armband. The fact is that the team has never convinced even if, until the restart in Cremona, they deluded themselves of being able to aspire to direct promotion.

From Corini to Mignani, the situation has worsened

In the last month, the situation has not changed with Mignani and indeed from the point of view of the result it has even worsened, to the point that Palermo risks playing the single match of the mini tournament for third place in Serie A, away from home, as its sixth position in the standings is no longer certain.

However, nothing seems irremediably lost and if now it no longer makes sense to look for scapegoats, now in the Coach, now in the goalkeeper, finally in the players, it certainly makes sense to still support the team by supporting and loving the most beautiful and unpredictable sport in the world.

It is not forbidden to dream

There are many variations that led to a disappointing ending to say the least: of an athletic, psychological and group dynamics nature. But this is not the time to analyze and research these causes with a view to future perspectives. Instead, we hope that with Sudtirol the fans, many of whom have already organized to watch the match as a group, can rejoice in a good match, played openly and with courage and which still leaves them dreaming.
