TRIESTE More violence, more robberies. And on repeat. The latest episode dates back to Saturday shortly after midnight: a twenty-five year old was attacked with pepper spray and robbed. It happened on the Rive, near “Eataly”. But the evening before, therefore Friday, five even more serious episodes occurred, some attempted and others successful: two young people of foreign origin spread panic in the centre, in the area between Piazza Unità, Piazza Hortis and the surrounding areas. They went around armed with a hammer and a knife, threatening their peers who they passed on their “patrol”. They took away money, shirts, jackets and cell phones.

Cases that were dealt with by both the Police and the Carabinieri. The two have already been identified and stopped by the Police Headquarters. One of the two, a Tunisian adult with a residence permit, was arrested. The other, a Kosovar minor hosted in the facilities for unaccompanied foreign minors, was reported.
Juvenile crime
At the moment it seems that the young couple does not belong to the gangs of foreign kids who have recently been involved in similar events. But they are episodes which add up to a youth crime which, between beatings and thefts, is now emerging in an increasingly marked way. Both in the suburbs and in the centre, as seen in recent weeks with the attack of the fifteen-year-old who was followed by a small group of his peers and then beaten in Piazza Goldoni. One of the gang had also pulled out a knife and pointed it at the teenager’s throat. Carabinieri investigations into this specific fact are still ongoing.

The robbery near Eataly
The long trail of violence continued late on Saturday evening next to Eataly, where the 25-year-old was robbed. The boy was walking with other friends; at one point he was approached by a “dark-skinned” individual, so his testimony states that he was in the company of a group of eight or ten other foreigners. The latter attempted to snatch the bag that the 25-year-old was keeping with him. But he reacted. The attacker, to escape, sprayed the stinging spray in his face. The victim required hospital treatment and was taken to the emergency room under yellow code. The young man will also undergo an eye examination today.
