Trapani, the Municipality’s notice on Facebook: do not report on Facebook

The Municipality of Trapani launches an appeal on social media so that citizens do not use social media to report lighting failures. A dog chasing its tail.

But there seems to be no alternative, with the most efficient disservice groups in the competent offices. Thousands of posts from the “before” and “after” of the reports.

The municipality’s initiative was prompted by the body responsible for the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of public lighting: City Green Light. And it does so with curious timing to say the least, given the latest post that went around the Trapani world wide web.

This is the report of a vintage urban street lamp in the shape of a lantern, immortalized on social media, because the lower part was missing and had crumbled onto the asphalt. The citizen then invites others to report the damage. The post reads: “for those who have the possibility of notifying the maintenance sector without waiting for holidays, weekends, transporting the certified e-mail on the back of a mule, etc. Better to intervene immediately. It is located in San Liberale”.

And here on the same network, the Administration warns that: “To report a fault in public lighting or dangerous poles, you can call the toll-free number 800.339.929 or use the dedicated CityGreenApp APP by City Green Light, the concessionaire for the management of public lighting in Trapani. The reports received are processed in the shortest possible time only in this way”.

Report a lighting failure through these means – declares Enzo Guaiana, councilor for urban planning -, it’s nothing new. City Green Light, the concessionary company for the management of public lighting in Trapani, has encouraged the Administration to remind citizens to use the official channels of the toll-free number and the app, considering that many citizens simply post this news on Facebook . And this is not good, considering that an ad hoc service has already existed for some time, that is, since this company manages the city’s lighting – concludes Guaiana -. Their contract includes interventions for the ordinary maintenance of the lighting system throughout the city. And their technicians always intervene promptly and quickly, both in the event of danger and in the event of a broken light, malfunctioning systems or poles at risk of falling.”.
