They didn’t tell each other. Without transcending, but with frankness. Protagonists Matteo Piantedosi And Vincenzo De Luca. From the war on Middle East as of April 25 fup to the issues closest to the people of Campania: development and cohesion funds and differentiated autonomy. The governor attacks the Government, asks for the “unblocking” of the 6 billion intended for Campania. The minister waits for his turn and then responds blow for blow. The match between the President of the Region and the Minister of the Interior takes place in the Prefecture, before the eyes of the mayor Gaetano Manfredi and the landlord Michele Di Bari.

The event seemed to proceed in a linear manner, with the interventions of the mayor and the rector of Federico II at the conference entitled “Naples responds to social hardship with culture, training and legality”. When the floor goes to De Luca, however, the governor diverts the topic of the day, starting from the battle for the agreement on FSC funds. «The time has come to decide. One year of in-depth analysis is more than enough”, says the governor. The Minister of the Interior does not hold back: “I know that the governor doesn’t like cross-examination and I don’t want to be drawn into an electoral campaign conversation, but I have to reply on some things”, the premise.

Then he goes into the matter: «The Campania it is the only region that fails to conclude the agreement. The others are negotiating.” De Luca doesn’t agree and shouts: «Tell me what the problems are». Plant yourself: «I propose, if you wish, to act as interpreter of any possibility of mediation with the central government». The governor replies like this: «There are no mediators regarding rights, we are not in the market. Rights are respected.” And again: «Let’s stop talking, tell us what you want». The minister also partially revised his statement: «I said it as a provocation. Proposing yourself as a mediator would mean endorsing your colleague Raffaele Fitto needs mediation and that is not the case. The problem is that to make an agreement it takes two people.” Then De Luca’s appeal to the government: «Once the electoral campaign is over, let’s find common sense and a Cohesion agreement. Please sign before May 9th.”

The two also clashed over the Roman demonstration last February, when De Luca went to protest in institutional buildings for the release of funds. «I hope that next time there are no police checks on buses where the mayors are, who are not ISIS terrorists”, De Luca’s provocation. «Maybe we’ll agree on the next appointment. It’s not that he comes to the Interior Ministry when he knows that I’m in Palermo and says that I’m not interested”, he replies. Plant yourself.

Who adds: «The management of public order in front of government buildings is done with the same criteria that you invoke when there are demonstrations at Palazzo Santa Lucia». De Luca doesn’t agree: «The Prime Minister was informed of the demonstration, and when 500 mayors arrive they have the right to walk in a democratic country». Piantedosi holds the debate: «President, knowing you for your consideration of access to public buildings, I advise you to avoid stating this, because then some mayor during the electoral campaign presents himself under the Region».

But not only. The debate also moved on to national issues. De Luca comments on Giorgia Meloni’s speech on April 25: «He said that the end of fascism laid the foundations of democracy. A somewhat feeble expression, as if to say that the end of the rain has laid the foundations for the closing of the umbrellas.” He replies: “No to democracy lessons.” Then the war in the Middle East. «When faced with the resolution imposing a ceasefire in Gaza, Israel demonstrates that it is completely indifferent». And Piantedosi: “It’s a battle between a state and terrorists.”
