There FIAB (Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation) which has always promoted sustainable mobility and the use of the bicycle as a means of transport, through its reference section in the city of Trani, organizes the first edition of CHILDREN. This is a national event, organized by Fiab Italia, which takes place in hundreds of cities throughout Italy and has as its primary objective that of promoting active mobility and spreading the use of bicycles among young and very young people.

«The real change starts from the new generations, which is why the protagonists of this initiative are children: the true actors of tomorrow» they say from the association. The first edition of Children edited by Fiab Trani – subsection of Fiab Bisceglie BICILIAE aps – will be held Sunday 5 May 2024 and will see the participation of many primary school pupils and their families.

The asphalt route of about 15 km is easy and suitable for everyone. The meeting is scheduled for 9 am in Piazza Plebiscito (near the Villa Comunale) where, after registering, a small warm-up session will be started by coach Alessandro Botta, of the Tommaso Assi Triathlon team, partner of the event. At 9.30 am the group will leave towards the Port and the Cathedral and then reach the Santa Geffa Natural Park, where there will be a short stop. Return near the municipal villa in Piazza Plebiscito scheduled for 12.30/12.45.

“L‘event is a real one festive occasion for adults and children but also an opportunity to reflect on the need to create green areas and cycle paths, to increase the liveability of urban centres, giving space back to people. Bimbimbici is an event open to all citizens, aware of the importance of an active life, respecting the environment and their planet. To participate you can pre-register‘event by filling in the ONLINE FORM by May 1, 2024 or alternatively on the morning of the event before departure. The first 100 participating children will be given a bag with a tasty snack for free.”

The qRegistration fee is 3 euros for all participants. «We ask you to bring a water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Check your bike beforehand, check that the gears and brakes are efficient and the bell works. The use of a helmet is recommended. Participation constitutes self-declaration of good physical condition. The organizers assume no responsibility for accidents or damage to people or things that may occur during the bicycle ride.”
