More hiring, more professional well-being, more motivation “to choose one of the most precious professions in the world”, more hospitals, more telemedicine, more research and innovation. It’s all in the “plus” sign electoral program of the centre-right on healthcare, the founding chapter of this electoral campaign, presented today by Alberto Cirio with councilors Luigi Icardi and Maurizio Marrone, supported by a handful of experts. Many fronts were considered in more or less detail, also depending on the complexity of the challenges.
The team
Speaking of experts, it is worth noting the presence in the room of well-known faces from the Turin and Piedmontese healthcare sector: from Professor Franca Fagioli, director of the Child Care Department of the Regina Margherita, to Doctor Roberto Venesia, president of Fimmg Piemonte, the main medical trade union family, from Dr. Giuseppe Palena, president of the pediatricians’ union (Fimp) to Valter Galante, health manager for Fratelli d’Italia. Professionals who are not applying but who in various capacities have agreed to be part of the working group wanted by Cirio to build the health program of the new legislature.
“To each his own job”
The general directors of the local health authorities were missing, for a deliberate choice on the part of Cirio: «They had asked to be present but I don’t agree, we are presenting an electoral program, it is right that those who lead the companies today remain in the field to fulfill their role for the Piedmontese». On purpose. The managers of the local health authorities, he added, will be extended until the end of the year: the new appointments will wait until the next legislature.
Hiring
Omitting, for brevity, the vindication of the results achieved in the expiring legislature, for the next five years we will focus on well-known and less well-known themes. Go ahead with the hiring plan, then: 2 thousand by the end of the year. The intention to gradually distance ourselves from the “tokenists” and to fully involve the trainees was confirmed.
Waiting lists
The Achilles’ heel of Piedmontese healthcare: strengthening of the Cup with the new contract, hourly offer and visits 7 days a weekcomplete integration of booking agendas between public and private facilities, active management and extra-Cup pathways for chronic patients.
Hospitals
Hospitals are promised under the heading more beds, more people, real-time monitoring of crowding and, new, a new emergency room in Turin: not public but, and it would be the first case in Piedmont, managed by private individuals with an agreement. “A choice that cannot be postponed now – Cirio specified -: we will make the announcement by the summer”.
Healthcare buildings
Healthcare construction: this is about moving forward and completing the 4.3 billion plan already set up: 11 hospitals, 4 expansions, 30 community hospitals, 91 community homes, 43 territorial centers, 13 adaptation interventions.
Research and review of the hospital network
Then the research, of course, which cannot be ignored synergy with private individuals and with the universities. Private individuals, indeed, are the subject of a progressive revaluation across the board. Cirio: «I love public healthcare but I have no prejudices towards the private sector». Review of the hospital network also through pathology networks, for greater integration between hospitals and the territory.
Territorial medicine
A crucial, and currently deficient, hub which will necessarily have to be strengthened: taking care of chronic patients, pharmacy services, primary care psychologist, closer collaboration with hospitals, training.
