REGGIO CALABRIA – The tenth edition of the National Cabaret Festival “Facce da bronzi” is about to start, a national artistic competition conceived in 2013 in Calabria and carried out over the years in the most important Italian cities and tourist centers of Calabria. The event, conceived and produced by the association “Calabria behind the scenes – Aps” with the organizational direction of Giuseppe Mazzacuva, the patronage of the Metropolitan City and the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, of Roma Capitale II Municipio and of Unicef Italia, is part of the notice “Cultural Activities 2022” CAP 2014-2020 of the Calabria Region. The Art and Entertainment Cultural Association “Calabria behind the scenes” based in Reggio Calabria (RC) was founded in 2011, with the aim of promoting culture and art by involving young Calabrian artists through the many forms of entertainment and in particular theatrical art. “Facce da bronzi” which aims to discover and enhance new talents in the field of cabaret and national comedy and in which cabaret artists, comedians, actors, impersonators, magicians, fantasists with a minimum of 1 year of experience in the sector can participate , makes use of the artistic direction of the Zelig author Alessio Tagliento, in twinning with the Faenza Cabaret “Alberto Sordi prize” and with the “Blue Marine” cabaret festival of Cilento.
There are nine comedians, selected over three evenings. The first selection for the The final of the award, dedicated to the actor Oreste Lionello, will take place at the Francesco Cilea Theater in Reggio Calabria on 28 March 2024 at 9.30 pm, will be hosted by the comedian Gennaro Calabrese and, as guests, the Roman comedian from Zelig will participate Dado, Rocco Barbaro, Gigi Misefari and Loris Fabiani, Milanese comedian who won the previous edition.
Since 2018 the Festival has collaborated with various bodies promoting Italian comedy such as the Accademia del Comico, the Cab41 of Turin, the Makkecomico of Rome. Among the guests who took to the stage at the event: Gianluca Impastato, Barbara Foria, Michelangelo Pulci, I Sense of Opium, Giovanni Cacioppo, Giancarlo Barbara, Gennaro Calabrese, Rocco Barbaro, Gigi Miseferi, Giancarlo Kalabrugovich, Carmine Faraco, Vincenzo Albano , Max Pisu, Claudio Batta, Bruce Ketta, Salvatore Gisonna. The artistic event, held in the past in the most important historical venues and theaters of the Italian cabaret tradition in the cities of Turin, Milan, Rome and Naples, is part of the circuit of the great Italian comedy festivals and, at the same time, encourages the promotion of image of our most important cultural heritage, the Riace Bronzes. The project therefore also acts as a tool for promoting tourism in Calabria within the national artistic circuit and in particular the comedy festivals.
