“What a nice (neuro) guy, clinical aspects, life stories, good practices” at the Manzoni-Poli Institute in Molfetta

MOLFETTA – IC “Manzoni-Poli” of Molfetta, is constantly committed to promoting various initiatives in the linguistic, scientific, artistic and sporting areas and above all pays particular attention to students with different abilities through targeted and progressive educational interventions over the years. The head teacher, prof. Giuseppe Minervini also favors and welcomes every training initiative proposed by experts, associations or training bodies, aware that the quality of special education can only further improve through ongoing training. On April 23, in the auditorium of the “GSPoli” middle school, prof. Minervini attended and moderated the interventions of the various guests during the meeting dedicated to neurodiversity “What a beautiful (neuro) guy, clinical aspects, life stories, good practices” promoted by our institute to continue awareness-raising actions on autism, in order to learn to look at reality from this particular point of view and be able to create increasingly effective and precise intervention programs. The experts present from the ASL of Molfetta, the child neuropsychiatrist Dr. F. Gioia, the psychologist Dr. G. Facchini, the professional educator Dr. S. Grieco focused on the clinical and psychological aspects and on the analysis and management of problem behaviors, highlighting that the intervention can only go through an accurate evaluation of the individual characteristics of each individual. The testimonies of the writer Teresa Antonacci, of Mrs. L. Aiello, representative of the parents on the Institute Council, revealed the private world of families who live the reality of autism on a daily basis. A journey that often begins with a clinical diagnosis that is difficult to accept, which over time turns into a unique adventure, even a happy one if you manage to understand and share with others the special experiences that every autistic boy or girl lives with his family, with the school and the whole society. The presence of numerous teachers and parents among the public demonstrated that promoting discussion between different points of view, ongoing training and a culture of hospitality is always a winning choice.
