The association explains why there will not be a May Day concert in Olbia.
Olbia he will not have the May Day concert and the news left many young people disappointed. The Municipality canceled the show at Fausto Noce, for safety reasons, but also to respect the location. The organizers of the event, the Eventi Frizzanti association, said they were sorry for the loss of “an opportunity for culture and sociality”.
”No, we didn’t want it, but we had to stop when faced with a blind denial on the part of the administration, which did not want to grant the Fausto Noce park to our event”, they said in a press release.
The association explained that it was not easy to find an alternative, or another location, “because the nature of our event belongs to the park, an ideal place for events of this type, where safety, logistics, lighting. So much so that other events that attract hundreds of people also rightly take place in the Park, such as the Patron Saint’s Day, with the concert and the rides, which will instead take place”, they declared.
So Eventi Frizzanti were unable to come up with an explanation for the Municipality’s no. “Maybe the lack of security and park wear applies only to our event? – they asked themselves -. Or are they just specious reasons? We are ready to find new spaces, but we cannot do it alone and we believe that a far-sighted administration, which cares about the city and its young people, must support all those associations that with great effort create an event for the territory”.
The association wondered why no work was done to find another location to host the concert in Olbia. “Mon there was this will, indeed! There were no responses to our requests sent via PEC, demonstrating their total disinterest – hyear added -. We wonder if the administration is aware of the great value that the event has acquired for the city of Olbia, and also for part of Gallura. Since its birth, Olbia’s May Day has hosted great national artists on stage. It gave space to emerging Sardinian musicians who had the chance to play on an important stage. He promoted the activities of associations dealing with social issues.”

The May Day event is very popular in the city and has brought under the stage more than 10,000 people, from morning to evening. “Above all, it created a space for meeting, for cultural and social exchanges, it involved young people – recognized the Eventi Frizzanti association -, giving them a stimulus and preparing a cultural legacy for them in the hope that in the future, they could take advantage of it hand the reins. He did it all thanks to the fundraising events and generous sponsors, donating the proceeds to non-profit associations, as happened in 2023 with the National Cystic Fibrosis Research Association.”
“The Olbia May Day is not only a wonderful day of celebration – he concluded – but a day of reflection and exchange, of collective growth, to which we never wanted to give up. We apologize to our fellow citizens, to all the supporters of the Olbia May Day for this interruption, with the promise of finding solutions to return”.
