Giving a novel, a comic, a picture book or any other kind of book to a school library is like planting a seed that will bear great fruit. Because the gift of a book is like introducing a good friend to the person to whom you give it, a moment of intimacy and closeness between the person giving and receiving the book, of sharing and discovery, a way to get to know each other better. With this spirit and motivation, Giacomo Giurato, author of the book «I want to live» donated his work to the newly created library of the «Verga» comprehensive institute in Gela, during the Book Fair that the same institute hosted in recent days. Each page represents a new horizon to explore and each sentence an opportunity for personal growth and discovery. When you decide to donate a book you are aware that it is a gift that can inspire those who receive it.
The book was delivered into the hands of the school director, Viviana Aldisio, who expressed gratitude to the author for his gesture. Among other things, Giurato’s children, Valeria and Vincenzo, also passed to Verga.
Giacomo Giurato’s book, which has become a real manual for life, was recently adopted by a technical institute in Perugia, becoming a source of inspiration for students who immediately expressed the desire to meet the author in their school to talk about gift.
Last April 11, at the Senate of the Republic, the audio version of was delivered to the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired in support of the initiative «Read for me – To give those who cannot see the pleasure of reading through listening».
The gift of a book as an act of sharing and discovery, an opportunity for growth.
