Saturday 4 May concert at the Pertini dedicated to Alfonsina Strada
(mi-lorenteggio.com) Legnano, 2 May 2024 – A concert dedicated to Alfonsina Strada, the first and only woman who, exactly 100 years ago, took part in the men’s Giro d’Italia. It is the theme of the evening organized on Saturday 4 May at 9pm at the Pertini Center by the Equal Opportunities Commission and the municipal administration on the day of the departure of the “pink race”.
Alfonsina Strada, in the 1924 Giro, despite arriving outside the time limit, completed the race, squeezed between clothes that hid her shape to appear as less feminine as possible and avoid ridicule. The evening’s program includes a concert by Andrea Satta: “Nothing new except you…. Alfonsina Strada” with Stefano Ciuffi on guitar. Morena Tartagni, cycling champion, will be a guest at the Pertini, the first Italian female athlete to stand on a world podium, in 1968. This will be followed by the screening of the video “Alfonsina and the bike”, by Tetes de Bois directed by Agostino Ferrente with a non-conformist Margherita Hack as Alfonsina herself.
