Ragusa, “a bench for Europe in every city”

Europe Day, which takes place every year on May 9, celebrates peace and unity in Europe. After the postponement caused by bad weather, Ragusa is also preparing to celebrate it.

On May 21st, on the proposal of the European Federalist Movement and with the support of the Municipality of Ragusa, Ragusa will celebrate Europe with the project “A bench for Europe in every city”, which involves some schools in our area.

The children, assisted by their teachers, will repaint the existing benches adjacent to their school buildings in a European theme with the commitment to take care of them over time.

Why is it important to involve students in this process? Because over time various objectives have been defined for European youth; examples include gender equality, inclusive societies, support for young people in rural areas, quality learning, mental health and well-being, green and sustainable Europe and much more.

May 21st will therefore be an opportunity to remember the importance of the EU for our young people with the inauguration of the various sites.

The schools that will create the benches are: the Circolo Didattico Palazzello which will create a bench inside its school complex (9.30 am), the “Fabio Besta” State Technical, Commercial and Aeronautical Institute which will create a bench in the parking area in proximity to the school (10.00 am); the Vann’Antò Comprehensive Institute which will create a bench in Villa Margherita (11.00 am), the Crispi Comprehensive Institute which will create a bench in the square in front of the school (11.00 am).
