Snow, from Tuesday more will fall up to low altitude, the regions involved

As we anticipated, the snow started falling again almost on the plain (300 meters above sea level) on the Ligurian interior, Piedmont (Cuneo, Monferrato, Langhe, Turin valleys) and western Emilia.

In technical terms, these sudden snowfalls are called “heavy snowfall“ (transfer of the cold from higher altitudes towards the ground induced by heavy rainfall) and are, especially for lovers of the cold and snow, among the most exciting phenomena, characterized by very wet and heavy flakes, of large dimensions, rather scenographic, but which can also cause greater problems for traffic given the strong intensity which often causes rapid accumulations.
Monday’s beautiful webcam images give us a fairytale landscape cloaked in a soft white cloak. It really feels like we’re back in the middle of Winter!

AND it didn’t end here: Even in the next few days the weather conditions will remain unstable and at times it will still be cold, with the risk of new snowfalls in the North starting from 600/800 meters above sea level: everything will also depend on the intensity of the showers. Accumulations of around 40-50 cm above 1000 meters above sea level are expected by the weekend, particularly in the central-eastern Alps. It is to all intents and purposes a notable weather event if we consider that we are now towards the end of April.

In recent years we are increasingly witnessing one climate extremization caused by the greater potential energy at play which determines an exasperation of contrasts between different air masses (frost descending from the North Pole, heat ascending from Africa) with Italy right in the middle of the battlefield between these important figures atmospheric.
