A demonstration took place this morning in front of the headquarters of the Campania Region in Santa Lucia.
About fifty parents, together with the Superheroes Association, the Piccolo Mondo di Marta and the Parents Committee for Serious and Very Serious Children, protested against the legislation that requires the reporting of vouchers to support caregivers.
Parents expressed their dissent by shouting “No to reporting” and “We are caregivers, not accountants”. Carmela Auriemma, deputy of the 5 Star Movement, argued that a parent’s love cannot be measured and accounted for in financial terms.
Next to her was councilor Patrizia Nola, who sided with caregiver parents against legislation that would like to transform them into accountants instead of allowing them to simply be parents.
Auriemma highlighted the importance of supporting mothers and fathers who care for their special children despite many difficulties. You also highlighted the need to recognize the figure of the Caregiver at a national level, hoping that Parliament can approve the bill presented by President Giuseppe Conte and his colleague Gilda Sportiello as soon as possible.
