Anti-G7 march, tensions with the police in the Port |VIDEO

Tension between demonstrators and police with some truncheons at the end of the march against the G7 of foreign ministers being held in Capri. The contact occurred at the Port of Naples, when the activists tried to reach the ferries to the island, but were stopped by the police in riot gear.

The head of the procession, made up of around 300 people in total, approached the block with inflatable donuts. After some pushing and shoving, a small police charge began. It all lasted a few seconds, the Digos men placed themselves between the police and the demonstrators, restoring calm.

The march started around 10 this morning from Piazza Garibaldi to protest against the meeting of foreign ministers in Capri. The stop to the war in Palestine is the first demand of the demonstration. But not the only one. Much space was given to environmental issues, global warming and the actions of energy companies in developing countries. The Student Network for Palestine and Insurgencia was present, but there was no lack of contribution from environmental movements and associations such as Friday for Future, Greenpace and Legambiente. The march continued along Corso Umberto I, Piazza Borsa, Piazza Municipio. Once the procession entered the port of Naples, the police, who had accompanied it up until that moment, took up riot gear, with armored vehicles blocking access to the ferries at Calata Porta di Massa.

“We tried with determination to go to the port of Naples to tell Tajani and his illustrious colleagues to the face that there is no space for them – we read in a note from the Network – There is no space for those who talk about war, of weapons, of bombs. We want a permanent ceasefire, we want the liberation of Palestine and the end of every war. We are not at all intimidated by the security devices of the Police Headquarters, we are not afraid of shields and truncheons on the heads of those It’s about peace rather than war.
We had the intention of arriving in Capri to give the ministers the ticket to the third world war, the destination to which they are taking us.”
