“We are the first Area Authority to have identified the single public manager for plant engineering – underlined Giovanni Coscia of EdA – and we are taking steps to close the procedures for the assignment of urban hygiene services in the ten sub-areas into which we have divided the province of Salerno. Between now and June we will begin the awarding procedures, in the spirit of increasing the efficiency of services and with a view to achieving economies of scale. From this point of view we are a model for the entire South. We must complete the plant and make our province and consequently the entire region autonomous in the management of the integrated waste cycle”.
“The synergy with Eda – added Vincenzo Petrosino, president of the EcoAmbiente board of directors – it is the result of a challenging path, which led to overcoming the liquidation phase and the restructuring of a very heavy debt. With commitment and professionalism we managed to consolidate our accounts and produce six-zero profits. The ability to maintain financial balance in the medium to long term is a more than satisfactory result achieved thanks to the centrality entrusted to human resources”.
In the province of Salerno we are already in the phase of full implementation of the Campania regional law (n.14/2016) for the reorganization of the integrated waste cycle, with the fundamental act of approval of the definitive “Territorial Area Plan”, which has implemented all the provisions of Legislative Decree 152/2006 (so-called “Consolidated Law on the Environment”) and the strategic lines identified and dictated by the Regional Plan for the Management of Urban Waste of the Campania Region.
“A result of historic significance, which finally sees our Province, but we could say the entire Campania Region, competing on an equal footing with the historically most virtuous Regions of central and northern Italy. Our “Optimal Territorial Area” of Salerno, with its 11 Sub District Areas, with characteristics of territorial homogeneity and congruity of inhabitants such as to make them sustainable on the quality and cost-effectiveness of the service offered, has already been a reality for some time and is about to be seen the light with the various “European tenders” for the “managerial and organizational” translation summarized in a complex of interventions, the main objectives of which are the economic-financial sustainability of the waste management service, the reduction of waste production, the improvement of the separate waste collection system with the achievement of the percentages set by current legislation, which must be associated with a forecast of plants and infrastructures to complete the plant cycle, which already sees several highly operational and virtuously managed plants both by the current “operational arm” of the ‘EdA Salerno, EcoAmbienteSalerno SpA, which has numerous “private” plants present in the provincial territory. And only a good institutional synergy between “public” and “private” can give serious and excellent results”, we read in the CGIL report.
