Bergamo airport becomes XL, expansion of the passenger terminal

Bergamo, 19 April. (askanews) – The “Il Caravaggio” airport of Milan-Bergamo Orio al Serio is expanding. Sacbo, the company that manages the airport, presented the works to expand the passenger terminal for an investment of 41 million euros for the tourist and commercial development of the area, also in view of the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics. Claudia Maria Terzi, councilor to the Infrastructures of the Lombardy Region. “It is a development that we have looked at and that we look at with great attention – he said – of which we are institutional partners having always supported the Bergamo-Orio al Serio airport first and foremost but also the other airports of the Lombardy airport system. we also did it in a concrete way, for example by ensuring that those infrastructures that were important and long overdue were created, such as the train to Orio rather than the intervention on the A4 roundabout, at the Bergamo exit with a dedicated junction right at the airport.” A new check-in hall with 22 desks will be available by 2025. Furthermore, the first floor will host new security checks, with 14 stations for faster hand baggage analysis, a new duty free area and larger spaces for non-Schengen boarding. Giovanni Sanga, president of Sacbo. “It is a construction site intended to improve the safety of passengers, of those who will have to take the flight – Sanga specified – and it is intended to improve services, the quality of the many services provided at the airport”.
