Smi Puglia. Delia Epifani new regional secretary

The appointment follows the sudden death of the Regional Secretary Francesco Pazienza, a union leader of the highest professional profile. Delia Epifani, general practitioner, former deputy regional secretary, would assume the role of regional secretary of the union’s Puglia. The composition of the union’s regional secretariat remains unchanged.

19 APR – The Puglia Regional Council of the Italian Doctors Union (Smi) met in an extraordinary manner after the sudden death of the Regional Secretary Francesco Pazienza and he sanctioned that Delia Epifani, general practitioner, former deputy regional secretary, would take on the role of regional secretary of the union’s Puglia. The composition of the union’s regional secretariat remains unchanged. To communicate this, in a note, Riccardo Montingelli, Puglia regional president of the Smi, who remembers Pazienza, “a union leader of the highest professional profile, appreciated for his constant commitment and for his great humanity, recognized not only among his Apulian colleagues. Throughout the entire trade union community, the National SMI has left a void that is difficult to fill. The National SMI brought its tribute, praise and applause to the figure of the late regional secretary”.

In support of Delia Epifani as delegate for family medicine was appointed Mariano Carfagna, While Lorenzo De Benedittis will have the task of following the medical management of SMI Puglia, alongside the regional vice president of FVM Riccardo Montingelli.

The Smi Regional Council, Montigelli reports, “concluded after a debate which saw the participation of all those present who underlined the solidity and vitality of the union, which is fighting ever more convincingly to defend the NHS, the medical profession, to protect of work and public health”.
