On stage, playing Billy’s father, Jackie Elliot – who does not accept his son’s desire to become a dancer and would like to see him dedicate himself to boxing – is Giulio Scarpati. While Rossella Brescia takes on the role of the dance teacher.

Produced by Sir Elton John in its English version, the musical derives from the 2000 film of the same name directed by Stephen Daldry and written by Lee Hall. The story is essentially that of the film: Billy Elliot, the boy protagonist (Emiliano Fiasco), has a passion for dance and dreams of becoming a great dancer when he grows up. However, his father has other plans for him: to see him in the ring with boxing gloves. Billy then begins taking dance lessons in secret. And the father, when he finally realizes the boy’s talent, decides to support him. The whole story is set in a difficult historical context, the British miners’ strike during Margaret Thatcher’s government. “Billy Elliot is a story of courage, will and lightness.
