VICENZA (ITALPRESS) – The countdown began publicly this morning with the official presentation, in the hall of honor of Palazzo Folco in Vicenza, of the great Alpine gathering of 10-12 May. After the enormous work carried out in recent months (and still far from finished) in concert with administrations, institutions, police headquarters, prefecture, Ulss, Civil Protection, Alpine Troops, bodies, local and national associations, the National Alpine Association and Alpini Gathering 2024 wanted to thank for the support received and wish everyone a good, unforgettable Gathering. For their part, the authorities who first requested and now welcomed the maxi-event have expressed great emotion and great anticipation. The mayor of Vicenza Giacomo Possamai defined the Gathering as “a celebration, but also a unique occasion of memory, of transmission of values, of reflection and of culture” and, in a city “beautiful and cheerful thanks to the 30 thousand flags that they dress it” he invited the people of Vicenza to be ready: “let everyone put their own little piece in it”.
In this regard, both the mayor and Maurizio Pinamonti, president of Adunata Alpini 2024, reiterated that an event of this magnitude, which involves 400 thousand people in three days, inevitably involves some small sacrifices for the residents, to whom the appeal is addressed to be patient and, as Pinamonti urged, “not to suffer the Gathering, but to experience its overwhelming atmosphere”. Alpine hat on his head, the president of the Province of Vicenza Andrea Nardin declared that he wanted to enjoy 100% a Gathering that was immediately defined as “of Vicenza and its lands”, lands with a very strong history, tradition and Alpine vocation. And since “a world without Alpini is unthinkable, this Gathering more than ever must be a celebration, but also a vehicle of important values, which are the root but also the leaf for the future”. “I am proud to host the 95th National Alpine Gathering – stated Lino Marchiori, president of the ANA Vicenza “Monte Pasubio” Section – in what is an Alpine city with a great and long tradition. The work was a lot, but the enthusiasm and the commitment even more and now, with what will be a huge gathering, Vicenza is the heart of Italy”. “The motto of this gathering is the Alpini’s dream of peace – concluded the national president of ANA, Sebastiano Favero – and it is a motto that comes from the heart. To those who speak of the contradiction between a corps of arms and the dream of peace , I reply that peace is built day after day, by acting. Ours is a military association that volunteers and, in the memory of our representatives, builds peace, above all by doing. 4 million hours spent serving the community, not only in disasters and emergencies, by chance the World Summit of Nobel Prize winners awarded the ANA the Man of Peace prize for social commitment and the sacrifice always shown.
