Airport security, world record for Fiumicino • Terzo Binario News

The excellence of Rome Fiumicino airport is recognized once again on an international level: the “Leonardo da Vinci” was in fact awarded as the best airport in the world for airport security during the 2024 World Airport Awards of Skytrax, the main organization global air transport rating.

Fiumicino airport, managed by Aeroporti di Roma, a Mundys group company, has obtained Skytrax recognition thanks to the ever-increasing attention towards the various aspects of airport security, in constant coordination with the police forces, considered by the organization ratings being evaluated – i.e., controls, waiting times, queue monitoring systems, fast tracks and priority lanes, technologies used, courtesy and efficiency of airport staff.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, said: “Rome Fiumicino Airport has invested significantly in technologies and services with the aim of ensuring passengers have an efficient and safe travel experience. We are delighted that it has been recognized as the airport with the best airport security processes for travelers around the world.”

The World Airport Awards, today considered the most prestigious awards in the aviation sector at an international level, are assigned on the basis of a survey with which passengers can annually evaluate their airport experience on a vast range of airport services and infrastructures, from check-in to arrivals, from shopping to security to departures, in over 550 airports around the world.

Receiving the recognition for Aeroporti di Roma during the ceremony, held at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt, Germany, was Marco Stramaccioni, Managing Director of ADR Security, who declared: “We are very proud of this award which recognizes the great investments that Aeroporti di Roma has made in the field of security in recent years, thanks to the great work of our team and the precious support of the most sophisticated technologies, both in Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.
