«Let’s give Saverio’s house back»

A spontaneous committee “Io sto con Saverio” was born to demonstrate solidarity and closeness to a family, made up of a mother and child with disabilities, left homeless.

The committee requests a meeting with the prefect Paola Dessì and next Tuesday the third sector associations and cooperatives will hold a press conference under the prefecture to take stock of the intricate legal case involving Adriana Parisi and her disabled son, Saverio Simonetti, in the loss of their home.

The objective of the committee, in fact, is to seek mediation through the prefect to allow a fair eviction proceeding for the family.

«Saverio’s stay in his home is vital for his psychophysical well-being and the condition in which he lives», recall the volunteers participating in the initiative.

Local institutions and third sector associations such as Heart’s Music, AutisticaMente, Logos cooperative, Cuamj, Angeli children of autism, AMano AMano, “Autism is Puglia” and the support and “constituent of Martina” group will participate in the sit-in.

The spontaneous committee was born in 2023, to follow a judicial proceeding that has been involving Adriana and Saverio for several years, victims of a bitter series of unfortunate circumstances that cost them their home and dignity.

«In this quirky affair, Saverio has disappeared from the judicial documents and the professionals who should have protected them have preferred to look the other way because they are a lost cause. Between one rebound and another, Saverio is forced to pay the bitter price of bureaucracy, of the system that considers him invisible and makes a mockery of his rights”, say the committee.
