LThe AdSP of the Eastern Ligurian Sea has entrusted the technical design of economic feasibility for the interventions relating to the construction of the buffer zone in Fossamastra, along viale San Bartolomeo to the architect Nicola De Mastri, the offer amount of 132,817.13 euros plus contributions. The general secretary of the AdSP, Federica Montaresi, appointed Eng. as sole manager of the project. Fabrizio Simonelli.

The work is included in the three-year program of public works 2024-2026 and the three-year program of purchases of goods and services 2024-2026.

Following discussions between the via del Molo body, the Municipality of La Spezia and the Fossamastra Quanto Basta association, which brings together the citizens of the Levante neighbourhood, two different options were presented, A and B. The association of citizens, however, proposed a third solution which is a sort of combination of the actions contained in the first two. The AdSP thus accepted the committee’s suggestion and proceeded following the path indicated by the inhabitants of Fossamastra.

Option “C”, on which the design will now focus, envisages a large equipped green area located towards the town, which will distance the neighborhood from the port by several metres. The road network of Viale San Bartolomeo will be moved towards the sea, a cycle/pedestrian path will be created on the side of the port railway, where the anti-phonic barrier will also be built, similar to the one already present on the avenue that runs along the Canaletto district.

«The buffer zone – declares the president of the AdSP Mario Sommariva – it is a work that has been awaited for years by the inhabitants of Fossamastra, with whom, together with the Municipality of La Spezia, we have started a fruitful dialogue for months. We listened to them and accepted their proposal which will guarantee the neighbourhood, through a new, vast green area, greater liveability. The port will continue to carry out its function but, thanks to the movement of activities towards the sea, the citizens of Fossamastra will finally be able to regain possession of their neighbourhood”.
