Press release

Uil Pensionati Calabria joins the national event organized by CGIL and Uil which will take place on Saturday 20 April in Rome.

Our presence in the square will be a testimony to the determination of Calabrian pensioners in pursuing a more equitable and inclusive society for all elderly citizens.

On this day of mobilization, we cannot ignore the recent Istat estimates which highlight significant disparities between the North and the South of our country in terms of well-being, longevity and access to care.

According to recent estimates from the National Institute of Statistics, in fact, regional disparities in terms of well-being, longevity and right to care for the elderly remain evident, with the South of the country often disadvantaged compared to the North. Data indicates that older people in the Southern regions often have access to lower quality healthcare services than those in the North, with significant consequences on their health and quality of life.

Furthermore, socioeconomic differences between various geographic areas influence life expectancy and the quality of years lived by older adults. It is essential to address these structural inequalities through targeted public policies that ensure equitable and universal access to health care and social services for all older people, regardless of their geographical origin.

Uil Pensionati Calabria renews its commitment to promoting policies aimed at improving well-being, longevity and the right to care for the elderly in our region and throughout the country. We will work with determination to raise awareness among institutions and civil society of the importance of addressing these inequalities and guaranteeing a dignified future for all senior citizens.

We therefore believe it is imperative to address these structural inequalities and ensure dignified and equal treatment for all senior citizens, regardless of where they reside.

Uil Pensionati Calabria reiterates its commitment to promoting public policies aimed at improving the living conditions of pensioners and guaranteeing them a dignified future. We ask the competent institutions to adopt concrete measures to reduce territorial disparities and guarantee all elderly citizens the right to well-being, longevity and the care necessary for a dignified life. The presence of Calabrian pensioners in Rome will be a tangible sign of our determination to fight for a more just and supportive society for all.
