“Our city learned of the possibility of organizing this event only a few months ago, but as usual we have transformed a critical issue into an opportunity – said the mayor Matteo Franconi before the performance – fortunately, Pontedera can count on one important volunteer networkthanks to which it is possible to do all this today.”
“Over the years, starting after the Second World War, Pontedera has always rolled up its sleeves – he added, after also quoting the President Emeritus of the Republic, Giovanni Gronchi – it was like this after the devastation of the war, but also after the flood and, in recent years, with the pandemic. These emergencies have demonstrated what our strength is“.
After the mayor, thanks to the management of Eugenio Leonethe prefect also intervened Maria Luisa d’Alessandrowho thanked all the Pontederesi for helping to make this event happen.
“I want to thank those who wanted to give this great gift to the whole city – concluded the regional councilor Alessandra Nardini – these days are a truly unforgettable moment participated by the whole city”.
