The tragic accident, a fatal reverse in the backyard. Matteo’s father didn’t realize that his son was behind the car. He was reversing when he mistakenly hit the child. Olaf, the father, and Laura, the child’s mother, immediately went to the emergency room of the Cà Foncello hospital in Treviso. Matteo Vidali, aged one and a half, died on the night of Tuesday 16 April after two days of struggle between life and death. He arrived at the hospital in very serious conditions. His heart stopped, then he started beating again after several resuscitation attempts by medical personnel. In the end, he didn’t make it. The head injuries resulting from the deep head trauma he had suffered were too serious. «He was trying to catch the ball. Now we will live for her little sister” the grandfather declared to the local television station Antenna three. The accident occurred on Sunday 14 April in Dosson di Casier, in the province of Treviso, in the garden of the house. The prosecutor’s office ordered an autopsy on the child. The father, an employee of Alternativa Ambiente, a cooperative that deals with environmental and agricultural services, is under investigation for manslaughter. A due investigation which will help the magistrates to complete the necessary investigations. For this reason, until authorization arrives from the prosecutor’s office, the family will not be able to celebrate little Matteo’s funeral.
