Civitavecchia – D’Antò (M5S): “The reuse center of our ecological island is a miracle of rebirth and solidarity”

CIVITAVECCHIA – We receive and publish: Today (yesterday, ed.) I have had the opportunity to visit the ecological island and the beating heart of the reuse centre. Two extremely inspiring hours, during which I witnessed a true show of solidarity and rebirth.

The incessant flow of people arriving, eager to give new life to abandoned objects, touched me deeply. In this period of uncertainty and difficulty, the reuse center has become much more than just a simple savings for the institution: it has become a beacon of hope and solidarity.

I have seen entire families find comfort and support, thanks to the essential items offered for free: refrigerators, washing machines, dishes, books, toys and even diapers for the little ones. But what made this experience even more extraordinary are the people who voluntarily and freely work tirelessly behind the scenes. I met Ferdinando, who with skill and dedication was preparing to repair an electric scooter for a child full of hope. And Pino, a true guardian angel, who often personally goes to the neediest families to offer his help for small repairs without asking for anything in return.

These gestures of altruism and generosity made true community spirit tangible. And I am convinced that this reality must not only be preserved, but enhanced and celebrated. It is a beacon of light in dark times, an example of how solidarity can transform lives and communities.

If we have the honor of receiving the citizens’ trust in the next elections, we will not only keep this precious heritage alive, but we will take it to an even higher level with the help of the workers who created this jewel in full autonomy. Our commitment is clear: to close the waste cycle in a virtuous way, promoting reuse, the selection of materials and the production of fertilizer through aerobic composting plants. This will not only make Civitavecchia an example to follow for the whole country, but will also create new job opportunities, as we have already demonstrated with the introduction of separate waste collection, which has given work to dozens of people in the management of public services.

We are ready to give our all to turn this vision into reality and to make every citizen of Civitavecchia proud to belong to this community.
