Milan’s season is virtually over, the only thing left to consolidate is second place in the standings. And it’s already time to take stock, with the coaching topic being hotter than ever. We talked about it with the historic Rossoneri manager Umberto Gandinitoday president of the Lega Basket Serie A.
Umberto Gandini, how do you evaluate Milan’s season from the outside?
“Season full of ups and downs but what counts is the final result. Managing to finish in second place in my opinion is not a result to throw away. It counterbalances the undoubted disappointment relating above all to the failure to qualify for the Champions League round of 16 in a group where you could have done it. The rest of the European situation is conditioned by the draws and Milan were not lucky.”
The month of April completely changed the scenario. Pioli had the confirmation in his pocket and everything came to a head
“It’s a general theme, which concerns football in Serie A in particular. Judgments change a lot with sporting results, but in my opinion Pioli’s work was excellent and undeniable, always in line with the top positions. In the end yes he says that one wins and many lose. The point is that patience and a cool mind are needed and I believe that the club will make the appropriate assessments.”
