An entire community in shock: Palagiano cannot rest over the death of forty-year-old Inna Aprilova and her son Alexander Pastore, just twelve years old. They are the victims of the terrible road accident that occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday 16 April in the San Basilio area, on a cursed stretch of state road 100, now renamed the “road of death”.

Saverio, little Alexander’s father, was driving the white Kia Sportage which collided with a heavy vehicle; rescued by health workers, he was urgently transferred to the Santissima Annunziata in Taranto and his life is still in danger. However, his youngest daughter, currently cared for by her maternal grandmother, will soon be waiting for him at home.

A real tragedy: Inna Aprilova came from Bulgaria but had integrated very well in Palagiano, so much so that she was loved by everyone. Little Alex, on the other hand, was a boy full of life and also a promising football goalkeeper for Nick Bari.

The family had moved to Chiatona for some time, in a small portion of territory that falls under the jurisdiction of Massafra, but is to be considered for all intents and purposes of Palagiano, a city center that they continued to frequent daily and which in the past had seen them part active in the world of volunteering.

At the moment the date of the funeral is not known nor the place where it will be possible to say a final farewell but in the meantime, on social media, the woman’s family has asked for respect, silence and prayer.

“We are living another heartbreaking day because we mourn a young mother and her son tragically torn from life and we pray for a young father hospitalized in serious conditions” was the comment of the mayor of Palagiano Domiziano Lasigna. «We mourn two good souls, victims of a senseless tragedy, on a road that has already destroyed too many lives and which can no longer allow any hesitation. We are helpless and astonished – he concluded – so let us impose silence and prayer to remember the young victims and comfort their families.”

The number of deaths that occurred on just 20 kilometers of an unfortunate state road thus rose to 9 in less than 5 months. A stretch, the one from Gioia del Colle passing through Mottola travels at full speed up to Massafra, where you proceed in two directions without a central barrier and without a guardrail.

A cursed stretch where the maximum limit fluctuates between 70 and 50 kilometers per hour. Just as is indicated at kilometer 52 traffic, between the bar-delicatessen “Lo spaccio” and the restaurant “Sala Azzurra”: the precise point where yesterday afternoon Inna and Alexander, a young mother with her beloved little son, tragically lost his life.
