ROVIGO – The Iannini construction company from L’Aquila will sign a project that has been awaited for years in Rovigo, namely the transformation of the former Maddalena hospital into a modern and functional residential neighbourhood, with the redevelopment of a large area that represents today a degraded urban void.

The works have already begun and add to the prestigious curriculum of the entrepreneurial group founded in 1884, based in L’Aquila, and of which the architect is the patron Eliseo Iannini.

The contract has a value of approximately 8 million euros, and the offer from the Iannini group was the best of the 15 received. The European tender from the Municipality of Rovigo was published last September 29th and the tender closed on October 30th. Costruzioni Iannini, we read in the decision, “is the best bidder having obtained the overall score deriving from the evaluation of the technical and economic offer equal to 78.83/100 points” and the “reduction offered is 2.32% to be applied on the tender amount”.

The works have already started, Costruzioni Iannini has given the guarantee of returning the work within 540 days, less than what was foreseen in the European tender, and this is why a construction site has been set up which will act simultaneously on several fronts.

This work joins other important works created by Costruzioni Iannini around Italy, such as the Park of Music and Culture in Florence, the headquarters of the Italian Space Agency in Rome, the International Multi-Transport Center in Venice, not to mention the many interventions carried out after the earthquake in L’Aquila and in the seismic crater, including the important intervention on the Spanish Fort.

As regards the works, as the newspaper writes, “the former hospital, 12 thousand square meters of total surface area, will be refurbished as regards the external surface; but the complete recovery will only concern the central body of the complex, which is spread over four levels: a basement, a mezzanine, the first and second floors”. Furthermore, “on the side wings of the central body and on the fourth floor which can be seen when looking at the building from the back, i.e. from Maddalena park, only the structural consolidation and arrangement of the exteriors will be carried out while the inside will remain empty and unfinished. Inside the central body, however, mostly work spaces, i.e. offices, will be created, around fifty, capable of hosting, according to estimates, over a hundred workers. Furthermore, photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof.”
